Year 3/4 News

CAMP MANYUNG 16-18 September 2009

We all thoroughly enjoyed our 3/4 camp once again.  The students were active and engaged and the parents and teachers took great pleasure in watching the students develop skills in leadership, and creativity.  Some of the fabulous activities that we all participated in were archery, trust walks, bush cooking, kite making, UHF radios, touring point Nepean and sport.  We also thoroughly enjoyed our eagerly awaited Red Faces concert.  Take a look and some of our fabulous photos.

IMAX AND MELBOURNE MUSEUM EXCURSION

On Friday 16th October 2009 the 3/4 area travelled into the city to watch an amazing film at the IMAX theatre called ‘Forces of Nature’.  This term we are learning about what natural events help to change the Earth.  ‘Forces of Nature’ showed us some amazing footage and computer simulated images of volcanoes, earthquakes and tornadoes.  We were amazed to discover that scientists are investigating ways of developing warning systems that will save lives before volcanoes erupt, earthquakes occur and tornadoes strike.

We also looked at many different types of rocks and crystals at the Melbourne Museum, along with some huge dinosaur bones.  We were amazed to see lava bombs that had been ejected from active volcanoes.
